IPL 2023 Points Table, Live Score, Table, Match List, Score, Winner, Start Date. IPL 2023 is the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League, regarded as the most successful and richest T20 competition in the world. The much-anticipated tournament got underway on March 31 with a mouth-watering clash between defending champions Gujarat Titans and 4-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings.

The sixteenth edition of the tournament is a special one as it marks the return of the competition to its traditional home and away formats. The league was last played in that format in 2019 due to the Covid-19 restrictions. The 2020 edition was completely held in the UAE and the 2021 edition in India had to be abruptly halted as a result of Covid-19 with the second half of the season being held in the UAE again.

The tournament returned home last year but was restricted to a limited number of venues with Mumbai and Pune hosting the entire league stage. IPL 2023 is scheduled to be played across 12 venues. Apart from the 10 home venues of the ten franchises, two additional venues have been selected too.

Overall, 70 league games will be played in IPL 2023. It will include 18 doubleheaders. The league stage is scheduled to end on May 21 before the playoffs get underway. IPL 2023 Final is scheduled to take place on May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

IPL 2023 Auction:

The mini-auction for IPL 2023 took place in Kochi on December 23. Before the auction, 991 players had registered their names for the event. The list was then reduced to 405 players – 273 Indian and 132 overseas players. In the end, only 80 players managed to earn IPL contracts with the ten franchises spending a whopping amount of Rs  1,67,00,00,000 to secure their services.

Unsurprisingly, the all-rounders were in huge demand as every team wanted to sign up quality players. England’s Sam Curran became the costliest player in the history of the league after Punjab Kings signed him for a record price of Rs 18.50 crore. Australian allrounder Cameron Green and England allrounder Ben Stokes earned hefty contracts too after being bought by Mumbai Indians for INR 17.50 Crore and Chennai Super Kings for 16.25 Crore respectively.

And while several players grabbed the headlines after earning huge contracts, there were also some notable names who could not invite even one bid from the ten franchises. Some big names that went unsold in the IPL auction 2023 were Kusal Mendis, Mohammad Nabi, Jimmy Neesham, Daryl Mitchell, and Travis Head.
