ICC World Test Championship Final: “We Are Confident That’s A Team That Can Have Success”- George Bailey Hints At Scott Boland’s Inclusion Over Josh Hazlewood

Australia would be eager to take revenge for the BGT 2023. The Aussies are all set to clash against India in the high voltage ICC World Test Championship 2021-23 final slated on 7th June 2023 at the Oval. The speedster Josh Hazlewood didn’t feature in BGT 2023 due to injury. Josh Hazlewood‘s Achilles injury has been troubling him a lot.

Australia will have a great chance to win their maiden ICC WTC trophy. It won’t be wrong to say that Aussies would have tailor-made conditions at the Oval as the likes of Pat Cummins & Mitchell Starc can dismantle the opposition.

Cummins needs to use Starc as a secret weapon as his angle can disturb any batter. It would be interesting to see how the scintillating all-rounder Cameron Green fares.

India on the other side would be banking on Cheteshwar Pujara. The right-handed batter would have gotten used to the English conditions as he played county cricket for the Sussex team.

India have a conundrum about whether to include Jaydev Unadkat in the playing 11. The left-arm pacer was a part of BGT 2023 but couldn’t get a game. It would be interesting to see what would be the combination as playing with 2 spinners would be quite risky.

Australia’s chief selector George Bailey was having an interaction with Sydney Morning Herald and he indirectly made a statement that the veteran pacer Josh Hazlewood will have to sit out against India in the WTC 2021-23 final. In the absence of Josh Hazlewood, Scott Boland used to feature in the playing 11 and had done quite a good job.

“The way we are looking at that is it’s a culmination of what’s been a pretty consistent two years. It’s been a pretty similar team for a long period of time. We are confident that’s a team and that’s a make-up that can have success,” said George Bailey.

Josh Hazlewood though had made a contrasting remark as he was quite optimistic that he would play the WTC 2021-23 final and is focusing on getting back his fitness for the marquee clash

“My fitness is pretty good. It is just a matter of ticking off every session from here until that date basically,” said Josh Hazlewood.
