The Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) is taking inspiration from the Indian Premier League (IPL) and implementing the Impact Player rule in the upcoming edition of the T20 league. This new rule will allow teams to substitute a player at any point during their innings, adding an exciting element to the competition.

The introduction of the Impact Player rule in the IPL 2023 proved to be a success, with teams utilizing the rule to their advantage. Prior to its implementation in the IPL, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had tested the rule in domestic cricket. The TNPL will now become the third tournament in Indian cricket to adopt this rule.

However, teams will not be allowed to use DRS for wides and no-balls. Additionally, there will be reserve days allocated for the playoff matches, ensuring a smooth progression of the tournament.
