Chennai Super Kings (CSK) bowling coach Dwayne Bravo called his journey from being a player of the franchise to becoming part of the coaching staff in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL).

Dwayne Bravo announced his retirement from the IPL before last year’s mini-auction. However, the Chennai-based franchise roped the all-rounder in as bowling coach of the team before the start of the IPL 2023.

Wanted To Take My New Cricketing Career – Dwayne Bravo

In a post of his official Instagram handle, Dwayne Bravo revealed that he got a call from CSK skipper MS Dhoni and coach Stephen Fleming and said that they invited him to be part of the coaching staff.

“I received a phone call from captain Dhoni and head coach Stephen Fleming who invited me to be a part of the coaching staff. I had no doubt in my mind that this was the direction I wanted to take my new cricketing career,” Bravo wrote.

“I had no doubt in my mind that this was the direction I wanted to take my new cricketing career. I’ve always had the vision in my mind of one day sharing what I can only describe as my God given talents as a cricketer to what it is right now – a coach for one of the best teams in IPL history,” he added.

Bravo expressed his gratitude to the fans for their support and love throughout the season, in both home and away games.

“To our fans who supported us throughout the entire season you all are the real champions. Everywhere we go and at every game there was always a sea of yellow; thank you always for your continued support and love,” he continued.

The former West Indies cricketer congratulated the bowling attack for delivering in the tournament despite being a young team.

“To the young bowling team, congratulations to each and every one of you. This victory is a result of your dedication and hard work,” he concluded.

The 39-year-old represented the five-time IPL champions in 116 games. The right-handed batter scored 1004 runs in 75 innings with an average of 25.10 and a strike rate of 137.16. The right arm pacer took 140 wickets with the ball at a decent economy rate of 8.37.
