IPL 2023: "MS Dhoni Is Thinking Beyond Himself" - Ambati Rayudu

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Gujarat Titans (GT) in the IPL 2023 final. CSK skipper MS Dhoni now has 5 IPL championships to his name. MS Dhoni though was out on a golden duck and was foxed by GT’s star pacer Mohit Sharma.

It was a tight finish as CSK’s shrewd all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored the winning runs as CSK required 10 runs to win from the last 2 balls but Jadeja looked in complete control as Mohit Sharma was spot on with his line & length.

GT fans would be utterly disappointed as defending 171 runs (DLS method) in 15 overs is not a tough task. CSK’s batters targeted the sly spinner Rashid Khan as he was whacked around the park and conceded 44 runs in his 3-over spell,

MS Dhoni is just magic – Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu was having an interaction with NDTV Sports and the batter heaped praise on CSK skipper MS Dhoni. Ambati Rayudu recalled his best win in IPL 2023 as the batter now has bid adieu to IPL.

“MS Dhoni is thinking beyond himself, he thinking for everybody, he thinks even for India, the whole population, that’s his greatest attribute, At this age doing what he is doing is incredible, I don’t think anybody else could have done what he is doing and not just playing but playing so well, he is just magic,” said Ambati Rayudu.

“Definitely, that win against Mumbai’s in Chennai was one game where we really felt we are in this season, in for the real deal and from there on, maybe the KKR game was a little dampener but it actually fired us up to go to Delhi and win a must-win game and from there on we knew if we do our basics right we are in with a really good chance,” he added.

CSK and MI have been blessed with really good team players – Ambati Rayudu

Ambati Rayudu said that CSK & MI haven’t won many orange and purple caps and pointed out that the two teams have good quality team players, which is why they have won so many championships between them.

“It’s just that these two (*CSK & MI) teams have been blessed with really good team players more than individual stars, that’s always been the case. If you look at even MI, I don’t they’ve had many orange caps and purple caps in their seasons and still they won a lot of trophies and even in CSK,” said.

“There are lot of players who go out there and do everything for the team and not just from 2018 but from a very long time. That’s the culture that has really made both the teams successful,” he added.
