Just days after making a derogatory comment about Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, former Pakistan batsman Abdul Razzaq has come up with another controversial statement. The former all-rounder seems to have developed a penchant for making provocative remarks about Indian cricket.

From demeaning Hardik Pandya to calling Jasprit Bumrah a ‘baby bowler’, Abdul Razzaq rarely squanders a chance to take shots at Indian cricket. And he was at it once again as he said that India’s loss in the final of the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 was good for the game.

India’s dream run in the World Cup came to an end with a heartbreaking defeat in the final against Australia. The Men in Blue were the most dominant side in the competition as they were just toying with the oppositions. They stormed into the final after winning all of the ten games. However, the Rohit Sharma-led side failed to come up with a similar performance in the final and lost the game by 6 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Abdul Razzaq on Team India’s defeat:

Asked to bat first, India could only manage a modest total of 240 runs despite half-centuries from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. In reply, Australia chased down the total in 43 overs. The team from Down Under recovered from 47 for 3 and chased down the target with ease in the end thanks to a stunning century from Travis Head and an unbeaten fifty from Marnus Labuschagne.

Following India’s loss, Abdul Razzaq came up with an explosive statement, saying that the loss for India was good for the game. He once again accused India of gaining an unfair advantage by altering the conditions as he said:

“Agar sahi baat kare toh aaj cricket jeeti hai. Aap conditions ko apni taraf utilise karke, ye kabhi bhi nahi aisa hota. Agar aaj India jeet jaati toh fir cricket jo hai naa vo India ki taraf ho jaati. Cricket ne bataya ki mai vo cricket hu jo brave hote hai, jo strong hote hai mentally, effort krte hai, jaan maarte hai, mai unke saath hu.

“Khushi iss cheej ki hai aaj ki agar India jeet jaati na to hume bahut jyada afsos hota iss sense mei ki vo conditions ko utilise kar rahi thi. Kuch na kuch toh hai conditions mei. Bilkul fair pitches honi chahiye, bilkul fair atmosphere hona chahiye, ki dono teams ke liye balance hona chahiye. Aaj bhi India ne advantage liya, agar Kohli 100 kar jaate toh India ye World Cup jeet jaati.

(Cricket won and India lost! Had India won the World Cup, it would have been a very sad moment for the game. They used conditions to their advantage, and I have never seen such a bad pitch for any ICC final before. It’s great for cricket that India lost),” Abdul Razzaq said this on the Hasna Mana Hai show in Pakistan.
