The IND vs AUS T20I series kickstarts with the first T20I in Visakhapatnam on November 23, Thursday. The five-match T20I series ends with the fifth T20I in Bengaluru on December 3. All the matches will start at 7 pm IST.
The IND vs AUS T20I series starts within three days after both teams played the World Cup final on Sunday, November 19. The Aussies won their sixth World Cup title by beating India in the final.
Australia will be led by Matthew Wade with their senior players rested. David Warner, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Marsh, and Josh Hazlewood have been rested from the squad that played the World Cup.
The side has plenty of new faces with Aaron Hardie, Jason Behrendorff, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, and Matt Short called into the side. Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Adam Zampa, and Marcus Stoiniw are a part of the World Cup squad retained for the T20I series.
Suryakumar Yadav will lead the Indian side with the senior players rested. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, and the pace trio have been rested for this series. While several young cricketers have been added, Yuzvendra Chahal and Sanju Samson have missed out on selection once again.
The management has truly tested the domestic bench strength with names like Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Shivam Dube, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, Mukesh Kumar being given a chance.
The two teams have played 26 T20Is between themselves with India winning 15 games and Australia 10. The last time both these teams played a T20I series was in 2022 in India. The Men in Blue won the series 2-1.
