Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal has taunted Team India after their defeat against Australia in the final of the recently concluded ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Team India’s dream run in the competition ended in a heartbreaking manner. The Men in Blue were the most dominant side in the competition and beat every team with utmost ease. They were the only unbeaten side in the competition prior to the final. Everything was falling into place for the Rohit Sharma-led side before the final where Australia stunned them by 6 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Australia thoroughly outplayed Team India in the title decider to clinch a record-extending sixth World Cup title. Bowling first, the Pat Cummins-led side bowled out the fancied hosts for a modest total of 240 runs despite half-centuries from KL Rahul and Virat Kohli. Mitchell Starc picked up 3 wickets while Cummins and Josh Hazlewood accounted for two wickets each.

In reply, Australia were off to a disastrous start. They were reeling at 47 for 3 after losing the wickets of David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, and David Warner cheaply. However, an imperious century from Travis Head and an unbeaten half-century from Marnus Labuschagne helped Australia recover and chase down the total in 43 overs. Head scored 137 off 120 balls while Labuschagne scored 58 off 110 balls.

Kamran Akmal taunts Team India after loss in final:

Kamran Akmal looked absolutely delighted after Team India’s loss in the final and did not shy away from celebrating it. He mocked the loss by copying Irfan Pathan’s famous dance steps. Pathan had danced with the Afghan players on the field after Afghanistan’s historic win over Pakistan during the league stage of the World Cup.

Watch:

Pathan’s gesture did not go down well with many in Pakistan including Kamran Akmal. The former Pakistan star had criticized the former India all-rounder for dancing on live TV.

“I was surprised at the Irfan Pathan dance,” Kamran Akmal told Ary News. “I remember India beating Pakistan in Australia; even then, this kind of happiness wasn’t seen. But there seems to be greater joy in Afghanistan defeating Pakistan. It was sad to see—not just for me but for the nation. The broadcasters should think about this neutral commentators shouldn’t do this.”
