According to reports, the Lucknow Super Giants franchise is going to grab Devdutt Padikkal from Rajasthan Royals ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Devdutt Padikkal is part of Rajasthan Royals team.

IPL 2024 auction is going to take place on December 19 in Dubai. Ahead of the event, franchises are allowed to trade players with mutual agreements. Hence, there are reports that LSG might grab Devdutt Padikkal from RR.

LSG Wants Devdutt Padikkal To Strengthen Middle-Order

According to RevSportz, Lucknow Super Giants want to grab Devdutt Padikkal in order to strengthen their middle order. Padikkal was part of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2023.

In 11 games, he scored 261 runs at an average of 26.10. He also slammed 2 half-centuries for the team. Padikkal was earlier part of Royal Challengers Bangalore. Playing as an opener in his first season in 2020, the left-handed batsman won the Emerging Player of the Tournament award. He scored more than 450 runs in that season.

In the 2021 season too, Padikkal was impressive with the bat smacking 411 runs in 14 games. He also slammed his first IPL century in that season. During the IPL 2022 mega auction, Rajasthan Royals picked him in their squad.

Padikkal was dropped to the middle-order in Rajasthan Royals. He did not taste much success for RR, hitting 376 runs in the 2022 season and 261 runs in the 2023 season.

Gautam Gambhir Appointed As New Mentor Of KKR

Meanwhile, former LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir has moved to Kolkata Knight Riders. The franchise has roped him in as the mentor for the next season. Under skipper Gambhir, KKR won trophies in the 2012 and 2014 seasons.

The IPL 2024 auction is set to take place on December 19 in Dubai. BCCI has set a deadline of November 26 for franchises to finalize their retention lists.
