The Indian Premier League (IPL) is definitely biggest Twenty20 extravaganza across the cricketing globe. Ever since its inception way back in 2008, the tournament has attracted huge crowds.

The domestic professional T20 tournament has gone on from strength to strength each passing year. Franchises like Mumbai Indians (IPL) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are the most successful teams in the tournament with three titles behind their name.

We have also witnessed the emergence of several new players who have gone on to represent the national team.

However, there are quite a few players who have been IPL stars but have not managed to grab the national spot on a consistent basis.

Well, there are few IPL stars who have played just a solitary T20I for the national team.

Now without wasting any time let us have a look at those three cricketers:

Sanju Samson:

Sanju Samson is one of the most stylish batsmen of the modern generation, particularly in India. He has the ability to play some exceptional shots and tale on quality bowlers with disdain.

Rajasthan Royals (RR) mentor Shane Warne recently called Samson as the future superstar. He has been a consistent performer for all the franchises he has been part of.

Samson’s solitary century in the tournament came in 2017 when he was playing for Delhi Daredevils (DD). It was a sensational knock.

The Kerala-based Samson performed quite consistently and has scored 1,867 runs in his IPL career so far. He has played 81 IPL matches maintaining an average of 26.67 and strike rate of 127.35. His IPL career includes 10 half-centuries and a ton.

Samson made his national debut against Zimbabwe in 2015. He scored 19 of 24 deliveries as India lost the game by 10 runs in Harare. He never appeared for India thereafter.

However, given his potential at the age of 23, it is only a matter of time before he dons national jersey yet again.

Karn has played 61 games in the tournament for different franchises. He has bagged 53 wickets at an impressive average of 26. His economy rate of 7.76 was quite impressive.

The wily customer Karn finally made his national debut on the back of some impressive performances in IPL. He went on to play his lone T20I against England in Birmingham, back in 2014.

In his only encounter, Karn Sharma bagged a solitary wicket in his four-over spell bagging the prized wicket of Joe Root. He has also represented India in a couple of ODI’s and a solitary Test.
