Chennai Super Kings CSK) all-rounder Kedar Jadhav is unlikely to take part in the remainder of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL). Meanwhile, Jadhav sustained an injury while fielding during Chennai’s last league game against Kings XI Punjab earlier today at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali.

The defending champions didn’t have a good finish to the league stages as they went down against Punjab by six wickets. Batting first, they managed to post only 170 runs on a batting track depending on a 96-run knock from Faf du Plessis. Suresh Raina also chipped in with a half-century before Sam Curran and Mohammed Shami pulled things back. But KL Rahul blistering knock helped Kings XI Punjab set the tone for the chase. He registered the third fastest fifty of the season before significant contributions from Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran sealed the tie in Kings XI Punjab’s favour.

Kedar Jadhav in doubt for the remaining IPL

However, it was during Punjab’s innings, Kedar Jadhav picked up an injury. Jadhav sustained the injury while diving to save an overthrow at the boundary line in 14th over of Kings XI Punjab’s innings. He walked off the field clutching his left shoulder and didn’t return for the remainder of the chase, which KXIP sealed with two overs to spare.

Kedar Jadhav is due for scans to confirm the extent of the injury. Stephen Fleming, head coach of the Chennai Super Kings confirmed that Jadhav looked in discomfort He also added that it is unlikely that the all-rounder will feature in the remainder of the IPL. However, all eyes will be on tomorrow which will clear about his participation in the upcoming World Cup. Fleming is hopeful that the injury is not that too serious.

“He’s getting an x-ray and a scan tomorrow, so we’re hopeful for him. I don’t think we’ll see him again in this tournament for us,” Fleming said. “His attention is turned to the World Cup. He’s in some discomfort but we need to be accurate with our assessment tomorrow. Fingers crossed that it is nothing too serious but it didn’t look that good,” he added.

Kedar Jadhav had a very average tournament scoring only 162 runs from 12 innings at a strike-rate of 95.86 and a top score of 58 against Mumbai Indians.
