Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) failed to progress to the playoff stages despite beating Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their last league game at the PCA IS Bindra Stadium. They have been mostly inconsistent throughout the season which have gone against them in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The young English all-rounder Sam Curran, who featured in the cash-rich league for the first-time made significant contributions and vouched to come back bigger and better as he sets for England.

Meanwhile, Mohali witnessed an absolute carnage from KL Rahul as Punjab registered a thumping victory over the defending champions. Chasing 171 runs, KL Rahul registered the third fastest half-century in this IPL to set the tone for the run chase. Although he got out after a well-made 7, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran ensured they go home safely with six wickets in hand. Sam Curran played a crucial role in containing the Chennai Super Kings picking up three wickets and then coming back to clinch the victory with a boundary off Imran Tahir.

The young English all-rounder had a good time in India and lived upto the expectations. Curran first caught eyes during the Test series against England where he chipped in with both bat and ball. Kings XI Punjab roped in the young all-rounder for Rs 7.20 crores – the highest overseas cricketers. Sam Curran returned with 95 runs including a match-winning fifty and claimed ten wickets along with a hattrick against Delhi Capitals.

As he leaves India, Curran left a heartwarming message for his fans. He thanked the Kings XI Punjab for their uncompromising support. He also noted that they will come back stronger and better in the upcoming season.
