Delhi Capitals (DC) have progressed to the playoff stages in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) after six long seasons. Kagiso Rabada played a key role in Delhi’s success leading the bowling attack single-handedly. However, he had to pull out due to a back injury as the tournament reached its business end.

The 23-year-old was outstanding throughout the IPL season, picking up wickets consistently for the Delhi Capitals. The South African speedster finished the tournament with 25 wickets as the highest wicket-taker before leaving out. Cricket South Africa asked Kagiso Rabada to return as a precautionary measure ahead of the ICC World Cup 2019. He joins the long list of injured Proteas seamers – Dale Steyn, Anrich Nortje and Lungi Ngidi.

Kagiso Rabada complained of back pain in Delhi Capital’s game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at home and subsequently sat out of the away game to Chennai Super Kings. Meanwhile, following scans, Cricket South Africa has advised the young pacer to take through rest ahead of the World Cup opener against England on May 30 at Oval.

The young fast bowler took to social media site Instagram to reveal his injury status. He admitted that he is doing well and there are sufficient precautionary measures. He also vouched to support Delhi Capitals throughout their journey. Delhi will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in the eliminator against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 8 (Wednesday) at Vishakapatnam.

“Ipl was really fun! Extremely glad for the opportunity! Sad to leave but good to be home! Bittersweet. Regarding my back, I’m good – precautionary is all. Will be supporting the boys all the way! @delhicapitals ?,” Kagiso Rabada gave an update of his injury.
