Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, has listed four batsmen whose styles he admires and enjoys watching. The fact that the Pakistani captain highlighted the players he admired shows that he values the aesthetics of batting. The captain has developed a reputation as a fashionable and technically adept batsman.

Azam has had a great career since making his debut for Pakistan in a One-Day International against Zimbabwe in Lahore over eight years ago.

Kane Williamson, the captain of New Zealand and one of cricket’s most renowned batsmen, was at the top of Azam’s list. Also highlighted was Abdullah Shafique, whose outstanding technique and graceful strokeplay have led to parallels to Azam himself.

“I try to follow the batting of most batters. I try to watch the highlights if I miss someone’s batting. Mostly, I really enjoy [watching] Kane Williamson. I also enjoy [watching] Abdullah Shafique, considering the way he plays and is a stylish batsman,” Babar Azam shared in an interview with Cricwick.
