    New Zealand skipper Tom Latham confirmed that Kane Williamson is dealing with a thumb injury, and his availability for the upcoming matches remains uncertain. Tom Latham stated that Tim Southee is available for selection for the next match in the ICC World Cup 2023.

    Kane Williamson missed the team’s first two matches and returned to the playing XI for the match against Bangladesh. Williamson played a 78-run knock but suffered a blow on his left thumb while running between the wickets and left the field immediately as retired hurt.

    Kane Williamson Is Still Out Of Contention – Tom Latham

    Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Tom Latham expressed his hope that Kane Williamson may recover and be available in the later part of the ongoing tournament.

    “Kane Williamson is still out of contention but Tim Southee is still available for India clash. Kane Williamson is still recovering, hopefully he will be available later in the tournament. Dew is a massive factor, we were here from 5pm yesterday and dew started to form,” Latham told reporters.
