Former India opener and active commentator Aakash Chopra feels that Virat Kohli and David Warner are not part of the Fab Four anymore in Test cricket. Chopra feels international cricket only has a Fab Three Now.

Fab Four refers to the four powerful players of Test cricket from the last decade. They are Steve Smith, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, and Virat Kohli. Even David Warner is a legend when it comes to Test cricket. Since 2015, these players ruled Test cricket with their astonishing performances.

No ‘Fab Four’ Now, Only A ‘Fab Three’: Aakash Chopra

While speaking on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra said that post-2020, Virat Kohli is not part of the Fab Four. He also took note of Kohli’s performances before and after 2020.

“Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Steve Smith and Kane Williamson were a sure shot ‘Fab Four’ at one point. In fact, even David Warner’s name was present in that list. We are talking about Test cricket. We are talking about the period between 2014 and 2019. But we don’t have a ‘Fab Four’ now, only a ‘Fab Three’,” Aakash Chopra said.

“If we talk about Virat Kohli’s performances between 2014 and 2019, he played 62 matches and scored 5695 runs at an average of 58.71 with the help of 22 centuries. Kohli was unstoppable. There was a home season where he scored four double centuries. He was absolutely brilliant,” Chopra added.

Virat Kohli’s Numbers Have Plummeted: Aakash Chopra

However, since the beginning of 2020, Virat Kohli’s stats have plummeted, according to Aakash Chopra.

“Virat Kohli’s numbers have plummeted. He has played 25 matches – 1277 runs, which does not suit him. He has an average of 29.69 and he has scored just one century overall, which came against Australia on the Ahmedabad ground,” Chopra noted.

The cricketer-turned-commentator also noted how David Warner’s batting stats have seen a slump since 2020.

“David Warner – 23 matches, 1250 runs, an average of 32.89. He has two centuries in that, including a big one. I feel at this point in time, as things stand now, Warner and Kohli are not part of the ‘Fab Four'”, Chopra concluded.

Since 2019, Virat Kohli faced poor form in Tests, failing to score a century in the longest format. The wait was over in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 when the right-handed batter shattered 180 runs. However, Kohli has shown marvelous form since Asia Cup 2022 last year, smacking 5 centuries across formats till now.
