Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad have forged together one of the best opening partnerships in the Indian Premier League. Their strong display at the top of the order is one of the reasons why Chennai Super Kings won IPL 2023.
During the league stage, the duo added 775 runs in 14 games at an average of 55. In a format that is known for its unpredictable nature, Conway and Ruturaj have defined consistency as openers. Conway and Ruturaj finished IPL 2023 as Chennai Super Kings‘ top two run-scorers. While Conway scored 672 runs, his opening partner scored 590 runs.

Devon Conway teases Ruturaj Gaikwad:
Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad are also very good friends and it was evident once again when the former decided to have some fun at the expense of the latter. Conway is currently in the United States of America where he will be playing for Texas Super Kings in the inaugural edition of the Major League Cricket.

In a recent video posted by the franchise on its social media handle, Conway could be seen teasing Ruturaj. The New Zealand star was sharing the experience of batting with his former CSK opening partner Faf du Plessis and hilariously stated that Ruturaj would be a bit jealous.
“It is great to be amongst the group and getting some time in the middle. Yeah, batted with Faf (du Plessis) yesterday in the practice game, it was great to bat alongside him,” said Conway on the sidelines of a practice session.
“I know Rutu (Ruturaj Gaikwad) is going to be a little bit jealous, but yeah it was great batting with him, just watching him go about his business. He smashed it from ball one. So, yeah a lot of good things to learn from him and just enjoying my time here with Texas Super Kings,” he added.
Meanwhile, Gaikwad is currently in West Indies for the upcoming two-match Test series. The right-handed batsman has earned his maiden call-up from the Test team.
