Rohit Sharma has led India to nine consecutive wins in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. He has been in terrific form with the bat and he is getting all his tactics on point as the Indian skipper. Former Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram made a bold claim by comparing Rohit with the likes of Virat Kohli, Joe Root, Kane Williamson, and Babar Azam. Akram admits that Rohit Sharma is built differently.

“Rohit and Gill put on 91 runs in 10 overs. The game was over then only. I don’t think there is anyone like Rohit Sharma in the World cricket. We talk about emperor Kohli (Virat), Joe Root, Williamson (Kane), and Babar Azam but this guy is different,” Akram said on A Sports.

Wasim Akram added, how Rohit makes batting look so easy and also puts the opposition on the back foot from ball one. He stated, “He makes batting look so easy. No matter what the situation is, the bowling attack is, he plays his shots with ease. He changes the tempo of the game. Bowlers and oppositions are on the back foot from ball one.”

Rohit Sharma scored 54-ball 61 against the Netherlands. It was his fourth fifty-plus score in this World Cup. India posted a mammoth total of 410 and won the match convincingly by 160 runs. Wasim Akram drew similarities between Rohit Sharma and former Pakistan Skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq stating that both of them have a lot of timing against Pacers.

Shoaib Malik Praises Rohit Sharma’s Intent Of Going At All Five Bowlers

“Like Inzamam, Rohit too has a lot of time against the pacers. His hand-eye coordination is so natural,” said Akram. Shoaib Malik agreed with Wasim Akram’s views and said Rohit Sharma treats all the bowlers in the same way. He mentioned Rohit’s intent of going at all the five bowlers in the opposition.

“Rohit is that kind of a batter, who will go at all the five bowlers of the opposition team. Rest what Wasim bhai has spoken about the other batters, they will not go against all five, they sometimes wait for the part-timers as well, but not Rohit,” said Malik.

India will face New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai will host the semi-finals on Wednesday, November 15. India and New Zealand locked horns in the semi-finals of the 2019 World Cup where the Blackcaps emerged victorious in a rain-affected encounter in Manchester. India will hope to break the semi-final curse after being eliminated in this round in the previous two World Cup editions.
