In a conversation with India Today, Dinesh Lad lauded Rohit Sharma for his positive and confident approach, citing instances from his school cricket days. The coach emphasized Rohit’s unwavering belief in his abilities as a special quality.

“Rohit Sharma’s specialty is that he is a very positive cricketer. I have seen him since childhood. He was the captain of his school team, at that time, he used to win matches on his own. He has a lot of faith in himself and that’s what’s special about him,” Dinesh Lad told India Today.

Rohit Sharma Was Very Disappointed – Dinesh Lad

Dinesh Lad recalled a moment in the 2011 World Cup when Rohit faced disappointment after being dropped. Lad stated that he advised him to dedicate ample time to cricket to become a prominent player.

“Rohit Sharma is very calm and he is always focused and he has been like that since childhood. He got dropped in the 2011 World Cup, he was very disappointed. I told him at that time that if you do not give enough time to cricket, you will never become a big player and people will forget you. He had told me back then that if I had any more complaints for him going forward he would leave cricket,” Lad further added.

India has been a formidable team in the tournament, winning all nine league-stage matches and showcasing a well-rounded performance in all aspects of the game. The Indian team will be hoping to end their decade-long ICC trophy drought in front of a home crowd.
