Former India batter Aakash Chopra has commended the fans for giving Rohit Sharma the recognition he deserves for his selfless performance with the bat in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

The India captain has led the team from the front in the ongoing World Cup and is now just one win away from guiding the team to glory. He is receiving praise from all quarters not only for his captaincy but also for the way he has batted in the competition so far. The right-handed batsman has cared little for personal milestones, ensuring to provide India with a quick start in all the games to make things easier for the middle-order batters.

Even in the semifinal against New Zealand, Rohit Sharma used an aggressive approach to give India a flying start. He shared a 71-run partnership off just 50 balls with Shubman Gill before perishing while trying to play a big shot. He scored 47 runs off just 29 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes.

Aakash Chopra praises fans for recognizing Rohit Sharma’s efforts:

In the ongoing World Cup, the India captain has scored 550 runs with a stunning strike rate of 124 and an average of 55. He has hit the most number of sixes in the ongoing competition – 28 and is second in the list of most fours hit, trailing Virat Kohli by just two boundaries after hitting 62 fours so far. His 28 sixes are also the most by any player in a single edition, surpassing Chris Gayle’s 26.

Rohit Sharma has received praise from all quarters for his selfless approach. Not only have experts commended him, but fans have also heaped praise on him. And Aakash Chopra is delighted with the way Rohit is getting credit for his display. Taking to X, the former cricketer-turned-commentator wrote:

“One of the most endearing trend on X in this #CWC23 is the admiration and adulation Rohit is getting for his selfless batting to set the tone of the match. It’s not often that 40s are celebrated in our country. Extremely matured response from the cricket watching audience”

Meanwhile, India have booked their place in the final with a 70-run win over New Zealand in the first semifinal. India will face the winner of the second semifinal between Australia and South Africa in the final on November 19.
