Anushka Sharma was absolutely delighted after her husband Virat Kohli picked up a wicket in the 45th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against the Netherlands National Cricket Team on Sunday, November 12, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
The Rohit Sharma-led India have been forced to field a combination of 5 specialist bowlers since Hardik Pandya got injured and was ruled out of the competition. So far the decision has not backfired as the pace trio of Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, and Jasprit Bumrah has been breathing fire, and spinners – Kuldeep Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja – have been doing a great job.
Even though the bowlers have done a great job, the combination is risky because an injury to a premier bowler during the match will leave India in a bad position in the knockouts.
When head coach Rahul Dravid was asked about this, he said that even though they don’t have a sixth bowling, they have a wrong-footed inswinging menace Virat Kohli, who can chip in with a few overs if and when needed.
“Yes, we don’t have the option to have a sixth proper bowler but we have a wrong-footed inswinger menace whom we can back for a couple of overs. He was close to doing so in the last game with the crowd pushing him to do so. The response of the team and the players have been really good,” he said.

Virat Kohli was brought in to the bowl after Mohammed Siraj suffered a blow on his throat after dropping a catch. He did a fantastic job and picked up a huge wicket of Netherlands captain Scott Edwards, who has been a top performer for the Dutch.
On the third ball of the 25th over, Kohli bowled a wide delivery which Scott Edwards tried to glance it away, got an edge and KL Rahul grabbed a great catch behind the wickets.
After picking up the wicket, Virat Kohli was pumped up and he celebrated with his teammates. Anushka Sharma, who was in the stands, also erupted in joy and she looked extremely delighted.
After a while, replays showed that Virat Kohli was seen celebrating while looking at Anushka Sharma in the stands and they pulled off an identical celebration following Scott Edwards’ wicket.

Meanwhile, the wicket of Scott Edwards was Kohli’s first international wicket since March 31, 2016, and the first ODI wicket since January 31, 2014. The Dutch skipper was Kohli’s fifth ODI wicket
