India National Cricket Team batting great Virat Kohli brought out Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘SIUU’ celebration after Mohammed Siraj bagged the wicket of Wesley Barresi in the 45th match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 on Sunday, November 12, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.

Mohammed Siraj provided India with the first wicket of the innings against the Dutch by removing Wesley Barresi in his first over itself. On the third delivery of his first over, Siraj bowled an away-swinging length ball outside off and the Netherlands batsman went for a cover drive.

However, he only managed to get a thin outside edge and Rahul moved across nicely to grab a good low catch. Wesley Barresi walked back to the dugout after contributing just 4 runs off 5 balls and leaving his side tottering at 5/1.

Virat Kohli celebrated the wicket with Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic ‘SIUU’ celebration, which is often pulled off by the pacer Mohammed Siraj after picking up the wickets.

Speaking during the post-match presentation ceremony, Rohit Sharma said that they focused on one game at a time and adapted to different conditions quickly, which brought them success. Rohit Sharma said:

“Since we started the tournament, for us, it was all about thinking about one game at a time. We never wanted to look too far ahead because it’s a long tournament. It was important to focus on one game. Different venues and we had to adapt, that’s exactly what we did.”

Rohit Sharma added that he is pleased with the way his players have performed throughout the competition. He elaborated:

“Very pleased with how we have played in these nine games. Very clinical from game one till today. That’s because different individuals have stepped up at different times. That’s a good sign for the team. We know the conditions, but when you play different opponents, that’s a different challenge. We adapted really well.”

Rohit Sharma further said that the results do matter to them because it keeps the dressing room environment lively. He said:

“We started four games in a row and then we had to bat first, seamers did the rest along with the spinners. It’s important, results do matter to keep the dressing room environment lively. There’s going to be a lot of expectations, we wanted to keep everything aside and focus on the job at hand. We wanted to play the game on the field with a lot of fun and that reflected on our performances.”
