Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan has highlighted Virat Kohli’s much-talked-about strike rate after his knock against the Netherlands at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday (November 12).

Captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. In favorable batting conditions, India’s batters had a field day as the hosts crossed the 400-run mark for the first time in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Rohit and Shubman Gill gave India a solid start by adding 100 runs in less than 12 overs before the latter departed after scoring 51 off just 32 balls.

Rohit also completed his fifty soon before departing for 61 off 54 balls. In-form Virat Kohli also made sure to cross the 50-run mark before being castled by left-arm spinner Roelof van der Merwe. The former India skipper scored 51 off 56 balls with the help of 5 fours and a six.

With the platform set, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer scored whirlwind centuries to propel India to a huge total. Rahul smashed India’s fastest-ever World Cup, reaching the milestone in just 62 balls before being dismissed for 104. His 64-ball knock at his home ground was studded with 11 fours and 4 sixes. Iyer, on the other hand, remained unbeaten on 128 off 94 balls as India finished on 410 for 4.

Moin Khan on Virat Kohli’s strike rate:

Virat Kohli’s strike rate has been a topic of discussion for quite some time now and the India star did very little to silence his critics. He was the only batter with a strike rate of less than 100 against the Netherlands. And Moin Khan made sure to point it out while analyzing India’s batting performance during the show The Pavilion on A Sports.

While the Pakistan great hailed Virat Kohli as one of the greatest of all time, he pointed out that the batter’s strike rate against the Netherlands was not impressive, saying:

“He is the only top-order batsman who scored runs today, but his strike rate was not as impressive. No doubt, it was a good inning. Now, talking about King Kohli, what can I say? Everywhere, every time, whenever he wants, wherever he wants, he plays shots. No doubt he is one of the greatest of all time.”
