After India thrashed the Netherlands at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru by a huge margin of 160 runs, they became the only team to remain undefeated in the round-robin league of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. India posted a mammoth total of 410/4 on the board and then bundled the Netherlands for 250 to end the league stage on a high.

The match witnessed five batters scoring more than fifty runs in an innings for the first time in World Cup history. Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul, all of them crossed the fifty-run mark with Rahul and Iyer getting hundreds. It was a wonderful day for the Indian fans as they got to see the bowling prowess of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma as both of them took a wicket in the match.

After the match, Virat Kohli made a really sweet gesture by gifting a signed jersey to the Netherlands all-rounder Roelof Van Der Merwe who also took Kohli’s wicket in the match. All members of the Netherlands squad were bidding adieu to a memorable World Cup campaign. They might have finished last in the tournament but they were able to get two victories against South Africa and Bangladesh.

Virat Kohli had his moments with the ball in the match as he bowled three overs and also took a wicket of the Netherlands skipper Scott Edwards. Edwards was caught behind on Virat’s delivery which was moving outside the leg. Virat Kohli was not the only part-timer to take a wicket in the India Vs Netherlands match, Indian Skipper Rohit Sharma also rolled his arms and took Teja Nidamanuru’s wicket to end the Netherlands’ innings.

India will now face New Zealand in the first semi-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The Kiwis have a really good record against India in ICC events. However, the Indian team will be looking to avenge the defeat they faced against the Blackcaps when both of them clashed in the 2019 World Cup semi-finals.
