Legendary Indian spinner Erapalli Prasanna is impressed with skipper Rohit Sharma’s batting and leadership during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023. Erapalli Prasanna highlighted that Rohit Sharma is strategically using the power play to ‘kill the opposition’ early in the game.
Rohit Sharma has led India to the semi-finals with an unbeaten record in the league phase. Rohit has showcased excellent batting form, amassing 503 runs at an average of 55.89 and a strike rate of 121.50. He has provided flying starts to the team throughout the season.

In a conversation with RevSportz, Erapalli Prasanna lauded Rohit Sharma for his strategic use of powerplays. He expressed his confidence in future talents like Shubman Gill.
“If you observe India’s batting in this World Cup, the way Rohit is leading the way is amazing. In the powerplay, he is using the field restrictions to his advantage. He has an excellent cricketing brain, he is using the initial overs to kill the opposition. And also, Shubman Gill has extraordinary potential. I am sure that in the years to come, Gill is going to rule cricket world,” Prasanna told RevSportz.
Virat Kohli Is In Different League – Erapalli Prasanna
The former spinner also praised Virat Kohli, considering him in a league of his own. He expressed strong support for Kohli, stating that criticism against him is baseless. He emphasized that the core of Indian batting centers around Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill.
“Obviously, the Indian batting revolves around Rohit, Gill and Kohli, about whom there is nothing more to add. If someone talks ill about Kohli, then he is stupid. He is in a different league altogether. There are many youngsters in this set-up who will serve India for many years. Without hesitation, I can say that Indian cricket is going to dominate the world for the next 10 years comfortably, unless our bowling fades away, because it is our bowling that is providing that silver lining,” Prasanna added.

Prasanna highlighted the importance of a strong bowling lineup, considering it the key to success in world cricket. He expressed concern that India might face challenges if the depth of the bowling attack isn’t equally formidable.
“Batting will always be there in India. It is bowling that gives you the edge in world cricket. If the second line of our bowling attack, after the likes of Shami, Bumrah, Siraj, Kuldeep and Jadeja isn’t strong, then I feel the Indian team would struggle to make the same impact.”
