Former Indian Spinner Erapalli Prasanna compared the three best batters from India from different generations. He took Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli has been always compared with the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and many other greats of the game. He is a modern-day legend and his records speak for himself. Currently, the highest run-getter in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 with 594 runs in nine innings.
Virat Kohli recently completed his 49th ODI hundred equalling Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most hundreds in ODIs. Prasanna talked about Suni Gavaskar being a silent assassin and Sachin and Virat being merciless with the bat. He said that Gavaskar was someone who would not look like a killer but he knew very well how to kill.
“Gavaskar, Tendulkar and Kohli are different batters. One is a slow assassin and that is Gavaskar. He is technically correct, and he will not create an impression on the opposition that he will kill you, but he will. Whereas, Sachin and Kohli will destroy you straightaway. They are merciless,” said Erapalli Prasanna.
Virat Kohli Is In A Different League, Says Erapalli Prasanna
Erapalli Prasanna talked about Virat Kohli’s intelligence in understanding limited-overs cricket. Prasanna praised Kohli’s ability to organize his innings and then play according to the situation. He considers Virat Kohli as the No.1 batter in the game’s history.
“Kohli is in an extremely different league because he is very intelligent. He can organize his innings whenever he wants and do whatever the need of the hour is. He has understood the 50-over and 20-over formats inside out as a batter, which I feel many top cricketers have failed to do. Many play in a reflective manner, ‘Okay, you bowl and I bat’, but Kohli understands how to play in different situations. That’s why I say Kohli is No. 1,” Prasanna said
Virat Kohli has already scored around 600 runs in this World Cup with two centuries and five half-centuries to his name. Kohli has been phenomenal with the bat in this World Cup and he is India‘s most valuable player with a lot of expectations on his shoulder. Hopefully, Virat can live up to the expectations and will perform the same way in the semi-finals as he did in the league stage.
