New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson reacted on Virat Kohli breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in the ODIs. He said that he couldn’t put it in words and while praising the Indian batter hailed him as the best in the world. 

Virat Kohli etched his name in the record books as he broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record of most centuries in the ODIs. The batter slammed his 50th ton in the semi-final of the ICC World Cup 2023 against New Zealand in Mumbai. 

Virat Kohli, who is the leading run-getter in the World Cup 2023, continued his dream run and stepped up for his team on the biggest stage. The right-hander held one end for his team and played blistering strokes all over the park, that powered the team to the big total. 

Virat Kohli scored runs all over the park and ended with a knock of 117 runs. This was his third ton in the tournament and he also crossed 700 run-mark in the tournament with his knock in Mumbai. His innings powered the team to a big total of 397 runs and subsequently helped them win the game by 70 runs.

Kane Williamson was asked about Virat Kohli breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Replying to this, he said that the Indian batter is getting better, which is a worry for the opposition. He highlighted his match-winning ability and stated: 

“(I am) trying to find the words to describe it really, and not just that, actually the way he goes about it, it is about winning games for his team and he is getting close and there is a lot of attention and that comes with a lot of his success. He is the best, isn’t he? And he seems to be getting better, which is a worry for opposition all around the world, but you admire it.” 

Sachin Tendulkar Reacts To Virat Kohli Breaking His Record 

Sachin Tendulkar, who was present in the stands,  lauded Virat Kohli for his stupendous innings and recalled how he was pranked when he first entered the dressing room. He said that he couldn’t be happier that the young boy turned into a ‘Virat’ batter. Taking to his X account, he stated: 

“The first time I met you in the Indian dressing room, you were pranked by other teammates into touching my feet. I couldn’t stop laughing that day. But soon, you touched my heart with your passion and skill. 

“I am so happy that that young boy has grown into a ‘Virat’ player. I couldn’t be happier that an Indian broke my record. And to do it on the biggest stage – in the World Cup Semi-final – and at my home ground is the icing on the cake.” 

Virat Kohli will be next seen in action when India will play final on 19th October in Ahmedabad.
