Former India fast-bowler Ashish Nehra has credited Virat Kohli for Rohit Sharma’s fearless batting in the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023.

Rohit has received praise from all quarters for his selfless approach with the bat in the tournament. The India skipper has cared little about personal milestones in the competition and has ensured to give India a fast start. In 10 games so far, Rohit has scored 550 runs at a strike-rate of almost 125.

On the other hand, Kohli has faced criticism for his approach with the bat despite being the leading run-scorer in the competition. The former India skipper has scored 711 runs in 10 games with the help of 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries. However, he has been criticized by many for his strike rate.

Ashish Nehra, however, believes that the batting approaches of Rohit and Kohli are a part of the same plan. The World Cup-winning bowler stated that Rohit can play fearlessly and aggressively only because of Kohli’s presence.

“Why Rohit Sharma can play so fearless and aggressively is because Virat Kohli is there. Virat Kohli plays with his time because Rohit Sharma plays like this so both seem to be two sides of a coin, they play together for the team,” Ashish Nehra told Cricbuzz.

Rohit Sharma Eyes Historic Title:

Rohit Sharma is just one win away from creating history. The Mumbai star is on the verge of becoming only the third Indian captain to win the World Cup. The other Indian captains to achieve this incredible feat are legendary Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni. He can also become only the fourth captain to win the title at home.

India have not won the World Cup since 2011 and will be desperate to end their long wait in the ongoing tournament. India have also not won an ICC competition since MS Dhoni led the team to glory in the 2013 Champions Trophy.

Team India will lock horns against Australia in the World Cup final. The match is scheduled to take place on Sunday (November 19) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
