Virat Kohli skipped the practice session a day ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup final against Australia. The Indian batting maestro suffered some cramps during the semi-final game against New Zealand on Wednesday. Virat Kohli has opted for rest since the sem-final match and hasn’t taken part in any of the practice sessions in Ahmedabad.

Reports have added that apart from Virat Kohli, the three frontline pacers also took a rest and didn’t take part in any of the practice sessions. The weather conditions at Ahmedabad might be a bit of trouble for players and keeping that in mind, the team management decided to rest their key players.

India will lock horns with Australia in the final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. The match will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. This will be the second occasion when the two teams will square off against each other in an ODI World Cup final. Ricky Ponting-led Australia demolished team India, handing them a 125-run defeat in the final. Australia were a totally different team back then that went on to win the 2007 World Cup as well.

Ravichandran Ashwin Might Find A Place In India’s Playing XI

India has been the most consistent and dominating team in this tournament and has won 10 matches on the trot. The hosts hold the upper hand and will have the crowd support as well. The Ahmedabad pitch for the final is likely to have something for the spinners, which could see Ravichandran Ashwin making his comeback in the playing XI. The veteran spinner has only played one game in the 2023 World Cup so far. He was benched after India’s opening game of the tournament against the same opposition.

If Rohit Sharma decides to include Ravichandran Ashwin in the playing XI, then Suryakumar Yadav will have to make way for him. It would be interesting to see if Rohit goes with the same Playing XI or if he changes his line-up a bit with respect to the conditions.

India is going to play their fourth ODI World Cup final, they have two World Cup titles to their name and have a genuine opportunity to make it three. However, Australia won’t be an easy opponent given their record of winning the World Cup five times.
