In what has been the latest development as per the reports in Cricbuzz, it is learned that Ambati Rayudu might be joining Joburg Super Kings for the second edition of the SA20. This comes after the former Indian batter joined St Kitts & Nevis Patriots for the upcoming Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season.

Ambati Rayudu was also slated to play in the Major League Cricket (MLC) for Texas Super Kings but he pulled out of the tournament after citing personal reasons. The right-hander is now being convinced by the Chennai Super Kings owners, who own the Joburg Super Kings as well, to play in the second edition of the SA20.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan also talked about the possibility of Ambati Rayudu joining the Joburg Super Kings. He said that the discussions with skipper Faf du Plessis and head coach Stephen Fleming are underway and the former Indian batter might be on the board.

Ambati Rayudu became available to play in overseas leagues after he announced his retirement from Indian cricket after the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, which he won with Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Notably, BCCI doesn’t allow its players to take part in foreign leagues until they retire from all forms of cricket.

SAT20: “Ambati’s extensive experience…,” Mahesh Ramani, chairman of St Kitts & Nevis Patriots on Ambati Rayudu’s selection

Ambati Rayudu will be part of the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots in CPL. He will replace Tristan Stubbs in the team. While talking about his signing, Mahesh Ramani, chairman of St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, said:

“I’m pleased to inform Patriots fans that Ambati Rayudu has been signed as one of our overseas players for the 2023 season. Ambati’s extensive experience, having won multiple championships with various teams during his illustrious career in India, will undoubtedly enhance the development of our young players as we aim for our second CPL title in 2023.”

Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2023 will be played from August 16 to September 24.
