The tall and lanky fast bowler from Australia, Billy Stanlake will link up with Derbyshire ahead of the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast opener in July. However, his participation is subjected to final verifications. Stanlake will replace his fellow countryman Kane Richardson who had to withdraw following a call-up for the ICC World Cup 2019 starting from May 30.

Stanlake joins Derbyshire

Billy Stanlake has enjoyed a stellar form in the T20 format. The 24-year-old Stanlake has claimed 25 wickets from 17 T20I matches for Australia. Bowling from such a height, Stanlake can easily purchase some bounce and swing off the wicket and poses tough questions to the opposition batters. Stanlake also played a crucial role during the Adelaide Strikers victorious campaign in the 2018 Big Bash League. The right-arm pacer picked up with 11 wickets at an average at 22.36.

Stanlake has also plied his trade in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He played a crucial role for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) taking them to the finals of the tournament before losing to Chennai Super Kings. Overall, Stanlake has taken 62 wickets in 51 Twenty20 matches, at an average of 23.95 and an economy rate under eight runs per over.

The Aussie cricketer seemed excited with the opportunity and said that he is looking forward to getting on the field. Billy Stanlake said that Derbyshire is a good side and he is hoping to use his skills and desire to contribute to their success.

“The T20 will come around fast now and I’m looking forward to getting going. It’ll be my first experience of the tournament, and having spoken to the guys I know how important the competition is. It’s a good side and a quick, bouncy track at Derby, so I hope to use my skills and contribute to performances out in the middle for Derbyshire,” he concluded.
