Haider Ali stumping iin Vitality T20 Blast

Pakistan batter Haider Ali encountered a brain fade moment to be dismissed in a bizarre fashion in a Vitality Blast T20 game between Birmingham and Derbyshire. Derbyshire won the game in the end but not before a comical dismissal of the Pakistan batter.

Derbyshire were chasing 204 to win against the Birmingham Bears. A late onslaught from skipper Leus du Plooy ensured that his team won the match with three balls to spare. Brook Guest the wicketkeeper was unbeaten at the other end with 11.

Derbyshire got off to a brilliant start with Haider Ali (48) and Luis Reece (57) adding 95 for the first wicket in the chase. In the 11th over from Danny Briggs, he bowled a perfect yorker to Haider who missed the fall trying to convert it into a full toss. He initially did not get out of his crease and then not knowing where the ball is, he ran for a single and was stumped in the process by wicketkeeper Lex Davis. Haider’s dismissal was eventually confirmed by the square leg umpire.

All of this was very comical on Haider’s behalf who seemed to lose his concentration for a second. The television umpires were left in splits while describing the dismissal. The dismissal also questions Haider’s understanding of the game and putting a prize on his wicket.

After the Bears amassed a formidable total of 203 for seven, Du Plooy delivered an unbeaten 66 from just 25 balls, propelling his team to 207 for four in 19.3 overs. Opening batsman Luis Reece (57 off 38 balls) and Haider Ali (48 off 34 balls) formed a crucial partnership of 96 runs in ten overs, laying a solid foundation for the successful chase.

The match showcased remarkable batting performances from both sides, with Haider contributing significantly to Derbyshire’s victory despite his unfortunate dismissal. While the humorous incident involving Haider’s stumping gained attention, it was the outstanding batting display from Du Plooy and the collective effort of the Derbyshire team that ultimately secured the thrilling win.
