Navdeep Saini once again had a brilliant day at the office for the Indian National Cricket Team. He received the man of the match award for his glorious performance with the ball against Sri Lanka at Indore. Speaking of the same, Navdeep Saini revealed that he gained the confidence to bowl with white ball alongside the red ball.

India’s chase looked a mere formality, thanks to the bowlers who began the new season on a positive note. While Shardul Thakur topped the wicket-takers chart with 3 wickets, Navdeep Saini was the pick of the bowlers as he rattled the Sri Lankan batsmen with pace and finished with figures of 2/18 in 4 overs.

Firstly, Saini bowled a pinpoint yorker to dismiss the Sri Lankan opening batsman Danushka Gunathilaka. Later, he delivered a stunning bouncer to get the better off  Bhanuka Rajapaksha.

I practiced well and I was confident – Navdeep Saini

Speaking of the same, Navdeep Saini, in the post-match presentation, stated that he understood the importance of the slower balls in this format of the game. Navdeep also added that he liked the yorker, which rattled the defence of Danushka Gunathilaka.

I practised well and I was confident. It’s important to be confident and it’s also important to use the variations. I was more happy to take a wicket with the yorker (wicket of Danushka Gunathilaka). I am gaining confidence with both white-ball and red-ball. When I made my T20I debut, I wanted to bowl fast, but now I know the importance of the slower deliveries.

All in all, it was a fine performance from Navdeep Saini in Indore. Now, he would like to finish the series on a high note in Pune. Having sealed a 1-0 lead, India will look to clinch the series when they take on Sri Lanka in the 3rd and final T20I on Friday in Pune.
