Recent Pakistani performances have fallen just short of a disaster, especially in the longer formats. Before playing two draws at home against New Zealand, Babar Azam and company suffered humbling series losses to England and Australia. Babar Azam, the current captain, has taken a lot of heat for his string of disappointing performances, with some even saying that he should step down as captain in one format.

During a press conference, Babar was questioned about the same thing as well, and the captain didn’t take well to it. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is now the center of attention, and amid all the commotion, famous pacer Hasan Ali has chosen a player who is “ready” to take over for Babar.

“He is ready [for Pakistan captaincy]. He has proved himself as a captain in PSL. I think he has also led Pakistan in two matches, so I think he is ready. He is always ready for any challenge and gives his best,” said Hasan when asked to share his thoughts on Shadab as the next Pakistan captain.

Hasan Ali and Shadab Khan both play for Islamabad United in Pakistan Super League:

Hasan Ali and Shadab are both PSL players for Islamabad United, and Shadab has been the team’s captain since 2019. In limited overs, Shadab serves as Pakistan’s vice-captain; however, for the series against New Zealand, in which the spinner was unable to play because of an injury, Shan Masood took his place.

Islamabad has had 32 occasions with Shadab at the helm, with the squad winning 17 and losing 15.

Beginning on Monday, the most recent PSL season kicked off with Lahore Qalandars defeating Multan Sultans by one run. Shaheen Shah Afridi returned to competitive cricket during the match after missing several months due to a nagging knee injury.
