Sarfaraz Ahmed, a former captain of Pakistan who guided the Men in Green to a famous victory over India in the 2017 ICC Champions Trophy, has chosen himself as the finest captain of Pakistan. Ahmed, who made an incredible comeback to the Pakistani Test team in the two-match series against New Zealand in December 2022–January 2023 after a nearly four-year absence, has chosen himself as the best captain of the Men in the Green team ahead of players like current skipper Babar Azam and former Test and ODI captain Azhar Ali.

Sarfaraz, who served as leader of the Pakistani squad that won the U-19 World Cup championship in 2006, was given charge of the Men in Green’s management in 2015. In 13 Tests, 50 ODIs, and 37 T20I games, he served as the team’s captain and won 4, 28, and 29 games, respectively. He served as captain of the Pakistani squad that humiliated India by 180 runs in the ICC Champions Trophy final of 2017, which was held on June 18 at the Oval.

The wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed, who is currently the skipper of Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), recently appeared on a Pakistani television program. When the host asked him to choose between Babar, Azhar, and himself as the better skipper, the right-handed batter responded, “Sarfaraz Ahmed,” and later added, “It’s better to take your own name rather than making anybody else angry.”

Sarfaraz made a spectacular comeback to Test cricket during the two-match Test series against the defending ICC World Test Championship champions New Zealand last month.
