Karachi is likely to host the remaining games of PSL 2023 due to financial disputes between The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and the interim Punjab government as per reports in ESPN Cricinfo. The decision for the same will be arrived at after a meeting with all the franchise owners.
The dispute is actually about how to split the cost of hosting the remainder of the tournament with the interim Punjab government. The government is asking the PCB to pay PKR 450m in security costs to host the tournament in Lahore and Rawalpindi. The amount also includes the cost of hosting the matches in Multan.

Meanwhile, the PCB had an agreement of paying PKR 50m with the previous government which was dissolved in the last week of January and the board has paid that amount as agreed. However, the PCB is willing to pay the remaining amount but not the security cost included in it.
PSL Owners And PCB Not On the Same Page Regarding Pay Dispute
A PCB official said that the government had spoken about the security issues in the past too and the financial burden of the associated costs. It is also understood that if PCB is likely to play the money it will include the PSL owners too to be a part of it. However, moving the tournament to Karachi would save money for the government and the stakeholders.

Meanwhile, the PSL owners and the PCB are said to be not on the same page. A PCB owner spoke to ESPN Cricinfo saying that they were not in favor of a change of schedule, saying it was wrong on PCB’s part to indulge the franchise owners in the matter of financial dispute. They said that the board had informed them about the possible shiting of the venue in an email, and no verbal communication was made about it. Now they made appealed to both parties to settle the dispute in a way that does not impact the progress of the tournament.
12 Matches Played So Far In PSL 2023
So far 12 matches have been played in PSL 2023 with Multan hosting five games and Karachi hosting seven. The first match in Lahore is scheduled to be held on February 26, with the first game in Rawalpindi to take place on March 1. They playoffs and the final (March 19) are scheduled to be hosted in Lahore.
