Iftikhar Ahmed, a middle-order batsman for Pakistan, has defended Men in Green captain Babar Azam and slammed his critics, adding that they should first rise to his level before criticising him.

Despite being one of the best batters in the world, Babar is frequently criticized by experts, former greats, and fans.

Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistani men’s cricket team, is one of the best batters in the modern era across all formats. The 28-year-old has been making significant runs in each of the game’s three forms for a while, yet despite this, he is constantly criticised by everyone.

There were discussions about replacing him from the leadership position after Pakistan lost a three-match Test series at home to England in December of last year. Several experts, fans, and previous greats advocated for the change in captaincy.

But despite all of these discussions, Babar has consistently had the backing and encouragement of his teammates, who have criticized his detractors for being unfair to him.

Iftikhar Ahmed has hit back at critics of Pakistan captain Babar Azam:

Iftikhar Ahmed, a renowned batter, is the most recent athlete to stand out in defense of bashed Babar. In a speech on Samma TV, he challenged people who were criticizing him to first consider their own accomplishments.

“Everyone knows that there is no other player like Babar Azam in the world,” Iftikhar was quoted as saying.

“People criticizing Babar should first see whether they are at a level, where they can comment on him. First, reach his level and become a cricketer like him, and then criticize Babar,” Iftikhar Ahmed added.

Pakistan failed to win a single Test at home under Babar Azam’s captaincy in 2022 and recently lost an ODI series to New Zealand at home as well.
