Wasim Akram, a former great fast bowler for Pakistan, has endorsed Mohammad Amir’s aggressive demeanour during the current Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023.

The Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam and the speedster for the Karachi Kings of Pakistan have been the subject of recent news stories because of their growing rivalry.

Azam and Amir have been rivals, although Amir downplayed their animosity before to the competition. He asserted that he could bowl as well as a tailender and a right-handed hitter. Fans argued over whether the left-arm pacer had disrespected Azam as a result of this.

Wasim Akram, however, provided Arab News with an explanation of why it is essential for fast bowlers like Mohammad Amir to display some ferocity on the field.

“I think we have too much time on our hands. You need characters, you need a bit of rivalry and I am all for it. I am all for Amir, the way he has been saying stuff as a bowler” Wasim Akram said.

Wasim Akram Supports Mohammad Amir For His On-Field Aggression:

In their most recent battle, Mohammad Amir dismissed  Babar Azam on a duck. Nevertheless, after Azam hammered him for a boundary a few weeks ago, the speedster was chastised for throwing the ball at the keeper in frustration.

When questioned about the incident, Wasim Akram once again sided with Amir. While off-field friendships should not be jeopardized, he believes there should be some banter on the field to spice up the game.

“What’s the point of going into the PSL game, or any game, and shaking hands with the batter and hugging them? Okay, before the game or after the game, I am all for it but during the game, be professional these little words off the field also add spice to PSL that’s the beauty of PSL. We should enjoy it instead of criticizing individually and consistently” Wasim Akram said.

If Mohammad Amir returns to Pakistan under Babar Azam’s captaincy, it will be exciting to see. In a T20I match against England back in August of last year, the left-armer last appeared for the Men in Green.
