Indian PM Narendra Modi To Attend The ICC World Cup 2023 Final In Ahmedabad: Reports

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to attend the World Cup final in Ahmedabad, as per Dainik Jagran. The match will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium which is the world’s largest cricket stadium. Team India have already reached the final of the tournament. The last time PM Modi saw a match at the stadium was India vs Australia fourth Test earlier this year.

One team among South Africa and Australia playing the second semi-final currently, will face India in the summit clash final. In case it’s Australia, the two teams will be playing their second World Cup final, with the first one coming in the year 2003.

India beat New Zealand in the first semi-final by 70 runs to make it to the final. They scored 397/4 batting first on the back of centuries by Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer. For Kohli, it was his 50th ODI ton while for Iyer it was his fifth overall and second in the tournament.

Mohammed Shami picked up 7/57 in the match as the Kiwis were bowled out for 327. In the process, he broke several records and created a few new ones. The Indian PM took to X to congratulate the Indian team and particularly Shami for his performance in the final.

Narendra Modi Shows His Support For Team India

The Indian team have been the only unbeaten team in this tournament so far. The win in the semi-final took their winning streak to 10 games, their best-ever in World Cups. They headed into the semis with 18 points from nine games topping the table in the process. South Africa and Australia both qualified with 14 points while New Zealand qualified with 10.

This is the first time ever that India defeated the Kiwis in a World Cup knockout match. The Kiwis defeated India in the 2019 World Cup semi-final followed by the 2021 T20 World Cup game and the WTC final.
