Indian batter Ajinkya Rahane achieved a massive milestone in the Test as he completed 5000 runs in the longest format of the game. He became only the 13th Indian batter in the history of the game to achieve the feat.
Ajinkya Rahane unlocked the milestone in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final against Australia at The Oval, England. The batter has batted exceptionally well under tremendous pressure and has looked pleasing to the eyes. The right-hander has timed the ball to perfection and has bailed his team out of trouble.

Ajinkya Rahane came to bat when India were tottering at 50/3. The batter, who is making his comeback after more than a year, has proved his mettle once again and led the rescue charge along with Ravindra Jadeja (48) to take his team out of pressure.

But once Ravindra Jadeja was back, Ajinkya Rahane took the responsibility to himself and kept scoring the runs at a decent pace. The batter played crisp strokes and was batting currently on 89* at Lunch on Day 3. He has stitched 100+ partnerships with Shardul Thakur (36*) and has kept India in the hunt.

During his innings Ajinkya Rahane surpassed the 5000-run mark in Test, joining the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sunil Gavaskar, Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, and others. Apart from this he also became the 7th Indian to score 5k runs and take 100 catches in the longest format of the game.
