In an entertaining cricket match, Middlesex won a T20 Blast match against Surrey with just four balls to spare chasing a target of 253 runs. It is the highest run chase in the T20 Blast and the second-highest run chase in T20s behind South Africa‘s 259-run chase against West Indies in March 2023.

Captain Stephen Eskinazi led from the front with the bat, scoring 73 off just 39 balls, including one six and 13 boundaries. Max Holden also smashed an unbeaten 68 off 35 deliveries, while Ryan Higgins and Joe Cracknell chipped in with 48 (24) and 36 (16), respectively. Middlesex won the game by seven wickets.

Earlier in the match, Surrey won the toss and opted to bat. Will Jacks (96) and Laurie Evans (85) added 177 for the first wicket. The rest of the batters contributed the remaining 60 runs in the batting lineup.

Middlesex Achieve Record Run-Chase Against Sussex In T20 Blast

The Surrey batters smashed a total of 19 fours and 16 sixes in their innings. Middlesex batters in response hit 33 fours and 8 sixes. Both sets of bowlers went for plenty of runs as several records were broken in the game.

The win for Middlesex helped them end their 14-game losing streak. This was their first win in 11 games this season. The club is last on the points table from the South Group. They will next face off against Kent in Canterbury on Friday, June 23.

This is the fourth consecutive season that Middlesex have crashed out in the group stage in the T20 tournament. The 2008 champions last reached the Quarterfinals in 2019. Meanwhile, Somerset are leading the group with nine wins in 11 matches. Warwickshire leads the North Group with 16 points from 11 games.
