Ashes 2023: Harry Brook Scripts History; Becomes Fastest Cricketer To Achieve This Enormous Milestone

The star England National Cricket Team batsman Harry Brook has achieved an enormous milestone following his batting heroics in the third Test of the Ashes 2023 against the Australia National Cricket Team at the Headingley in Leeds.

Harry Brook failed to perform in the first innings of the third Ashes 2023 Test. He was cleaned by the Aussie skipper Pat Cummins for just 3 runs off 11 balls.

However, in the second innings, he showcased a batting masterclass. He scored terrific 75 runs off 93 balls, including 9 fours. His innings played a key role in England winning the match by 3 wickets and avoiding the series defeat.

As Harry Brook took a single off Mitchell Starc’s 4th ball of the 36th over of the innings. He became the fastest batter of all time to complete 1000 Test runs in terms of balls faced. He broke the record of New Zealand star Colin de Grandhomme, who achieved the feat in 1140 deliveries.

It’s a lot more nerve-wracking when you’re sat up there than in the middle – Harry Brook

After the match, Harry Brook said that it was nerve-wracking for him to watch the match from the dressing room after getting dismissed when 21 runs were still needed.

“It’s a lot more nerve-wracking when you’re sat up there than in the middle,” he told Sky Sports.
“I’m not one to blow up when I get in the changing room but I had a little blow-up today. I like getting us over the line and yeah, it was annoying that I didn’t today, but I’m happy we won.”

Harry Brook was involved in a crucial 59 runs partnership with comeback man Chris Woakes. Although Brook failed to get England past the finish line, Woakes remained unbeaten in the middle and made sure his side seal the victory.

Harry Brook further spoke about his partnership with Chris Woakes. He also showered rich praise on the bowling all-rounder and labeled him as a vital member of the side.

“Everybody [in the dressing room] erupted. We only needed about 20 runs, and I had complete and utter faith in Woakesy and Woody. It was tense for a little while but when Woody hit that six, we kind of knew it was on,” Harry Brook said.
“Me and Woakesy were just trying to build a partnership there, just trying to go down in fives: we got it down to 40 and we said, ‘Let’s try and get it down to 35’; then, ‘Let’s try and get it down to 30.’ Then obviously I got out, which made it a bit more nerve-wracking.

“[Woakes] has been a phenomenal player for England. Obviously, he hasn’t played as much in the last couple years but to have him back in the side and play a vital part like he has done there is really good,” Harry Brook said.
