Former Indian captain Virat Kohli is on the verge of achieving a unique milestone in the upcoming Test series against the West Indies. Virat Kohli will become only the second Indian cricketer, after Sachin Tendulkar, to achieve this unique record in Test cricket away from home.

India will start their campaign in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle with a series against the West Indies. The Rohit Sharma-led team will take on the Kraigg Brathwaite-led team in the first Test of a two-match series at Windsor Park in Dominica starting on July 12.

Virat Kohli On The Verge Of Achieving Unique Record

As India gears up to face the West Indies in their first Test, all eyes will be on Virat Kohli as he is set to equal another unique record held by Sachin Tendulkar. This time, the record involves facing a father-son duo in Test cricket away from home.

The 34-year-old played against legendary batter Shivnarine Chanderpaul during India’s tour of the West Indies in 2011. The right-handed batter has the opportunity to play against his son, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, in the first Test of the upcoming series.

Sachin Tendulkar played against Geoff Marsh and his son Shaun Marsh in Australia. Tendulkar faced Geoff Marsh during his first tour of Australia in 1992. He played against Geoff Marsh’s son, Shaun Marsh, during India’s tour of Australia in 2010-11.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul is expected to open the innings with his skipper Kraigg Brathwaite in the first Test match. He has shown promise in his early Test career. He scored 453 runs in seven matches with an average of 45.30, including one hundred.
