Indian skipper Rohit Sharma achieved a massive feat in Test cricket as he became the second fastest Indian to complete 2000 runs as an opener in the longest format of the game. He took just 40 innings to achieve the milestone, surpassing great Sunil Gavaskar, who got there in 43 innings.
Rohit Sharma achieved the feat in the ongoing second Test against West Indies at Port of Spain in Trinidad. The Indian skipper, who smashed a stupendous ton in the first game, continued to his brilliant form and has looked glorious to the eyes, playing some breathtaking strokes.

Rohit Sharma smashed a magnificent half-century and is looking set for a big knock. It’s fair to say that ever since he started opening in Tests, he has looked a class apart. The senior batter has scored runs consistently for the team at the top and has put them in winning positions.
Rohit Sharma along with Yashasvi Jaiswal has yet again given India a rollicking start in the Tests. They have stitched another 100-run partnership and entered the list of India opening pairs with the most consecutive century stands. They are the second Indian pair to register back-to-back century stands in the same series, after S Ramesh and D Gandhi, who achieved the feat in the home series against New Zealand in 1999.

For India, Virender Sehwag has taken the least innings to score 2000 runs as an opener in Tests. The former batter took 39 innings to achieve the feat. He’s followed by Rohit Sharma and Sunil Gavaskar. Gautam Gambhir is also on the elite list as he did the same in 43 innings whereas Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay achieved the feat in 47 and 48 innings respectively.
