Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has created history as he has become the first cricketer in Test cricket to register 30 consecutive double digits scores. He surpassed former Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardena, who had 29 consecutive double-digit scores. 

Rohit Sharma achieved the feat in the ongoing second Test against West Indies at the Queen’s Park in Port of Spain in Trinidad. The Indian skipper came out all guns blazing in the second innings after India bundled out the hosts for 255 runs in reply to their first innings total of 438 runs.

Rohit Sharma came out with positive intent and smashed his fastest half-century in Test cricket after he achieved the feat in just 35 balls. The opening batter also stitched 98 runs partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, bringing a 50-run stand in just 5.3 overs, which is India’s fastest-ever opening 50 stand. 

Rohit Sharma ended with the knock of 57 runs in 44 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes. The Indian skipper has been going through the sublime touch in the Tests as he scored a century in the first match and followed it with 80 and 57 in two innings of the second match respectively. 

Rohit Sharma now has 30 consecutive double-digit scores in the longest format of the game. The last time was dismissed before reaching ten was against England in Chennai in Feb 2021.

IND vs WI: Rohit Sharma Creates History

Rohit Sharma has the most consecutive double-digit scores in Test history. He is followed by Mahela Jayawardena and Len Hutton. Rohan Kanhai also features in the list whereas Mahela Jayawardena has achieved the feat 24 times as well followed by AB de Villiers, who has achieved the feat 24 times as well.
