Indian cricket team have created history as they broke Sri Lanka’s 22-year-old record of the fastest 100 runs in an Test innings. They achieved the feat in the ongoing second Test against West Indies at the Queen’s Park in Port of Spain in Trinidad.
After India bundled out West Indies for 255 runs, taking a lead of 183 runs, openers Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal came out all guns blazing and played with an ultra-aggressive mindset. They took the West Indies bowlers to cleaners and smashed them all over the park to bring the half-century partnership in 5.3 runs, which is the fastest for India in Tests.

Rohit Sharma smashed his fastest half-century in the Tests as he reached the milestone in just 35 balls whereas Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 38 runs in 30 balls as the duo stitched 98 runs partnership for the opening wicket. Shubman Gill, who came in at No.3, played fluently as well.
In the process, India brought up 100 runs in just 12.2 overs, which is the fastest ever a team has taken in terms of balls faced. They surpassed Sri Lanka, who scored 100 runs in 13.2 overs against Bangladesh in 2001.
India have taken a lead of over 300 runs but rain is playing its part and has been frustrating. The Rohit Sharma-led won the first game by a massive margin of innings and 141 runs and they would be hoping to win the ongoing game as well to whitewash the opposition.

India now hold the record for the fastest 100 runs by a team in Test cricket history followed by Sri Lanka. England feature twice in the list whereas Bangladesh also achieved the feat against West Indies.
