Indian captain Rohit Sharma achieved a massive feat in the history of the Asia Cup. He became the first ever Indian player to score 10 fifty-plus scores in the tournament. Not only this but he also broke a couple of records more with his blistering unbeaten knock. 

Rohit Sharma achieved the feat in the ongoing game against Nepal in the Asia Cup 2023 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium in Pallekele. The batter after failing in the game against Pakistan looked a class apart in the second game and slammed a magnificent half-century to take his team home. 

India skipper Rohit Sharma scored an unbeaten 74 runs off 59 balls. He batted with a strike rate of 125.52 and also smashed 6 fours and 5 massive sixes in his innings. He also stitched a 147-run partnership with Shubman Gill (67) and made sure that his side completed a 10-wicket win and booked their berth in the Super 4 stage of the tournament. 

Rohit Sharma also surpassed his teammate Virat Kohli as the leading run-getter in Asia Cup history in terms of Indian players, surpassing the tally of 1046 runs. The Indian skipper also overtook Sri Lankan great Kumar Sangakkara’s tally of 1075 runs to become the second-highest run-getter in the tournament. 

Rohit Sharma only has Sanath Jayasuriya ahead of him now. He also completed 250 sixes in the ODI cricket, joining Sanath Jayasuriya and Chris Gayle in an elite ODI list.
