Ajay Jadeja believes that if KL Rahul is kept in the batting lineup in the ODI series against Zimbabwe, he may not get a hit.

On Thursday, August 18, Team India defeated Zimbabwe by 10 wickets in the first match of the three-match series at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. With Indian starters Shubman Gill and Shikhar Dhawan completing the chase without being separated, none of the middle-order batters saw a ball.

Ajay Jadeja was questioned about potential adjustments the Men in Blue could make for the second ODI during a conversation on Sony Sports. He answered:

“The batting order might alter. KL Rahul is in the area to practice his hitting. KL, Hooda, and Avesh Khan are the three players who will be departing, so you might consider giving them extra time in the middle.

“However, if this is the batting order and he will walk in at number four, he might not play a single ball throughout this trip.”

Ajay Jadeja on whether Avesh Khan should play the second ODI:

Ajay Jadeja was also questioned if Avesh, who is part of the Asia Cup squad, should play the second ODI. The former Indian player responded, saying:

“You could bring any of them in. They are all good players, especially Avesh Khan, who will be a part of that group. So he might be rested because you want fast bowlers to be fresh. He would have made it to the side otherwise.”

The second game, which will take place at the same location on Saturday, August 20, is unlikely to see Team India alter their starting lineup. However, if they win the series on Saturday, they might hand opportunities to the players standing by in the final ODI.
