Deepak Chahar-led Indian bowlers reduced Zimbabwe to 31 for 4 and then 110 for 8 before a counter-attacking ninth-wicket stand of 70 off 65 balls between Brad Evans and Richard Ngarava lifted them to a somewhat respectable total.

India 192 for 0 (Gill 82*, Dhawan 81*) beat Zimbabwe 189 (Chakabva 35, Ngarava 34, Axar 3-24, Chahar 3-27, Prasidh 3-50) by 10 wickets

India is expected to go in with the same team in the 2nd ODI as none of their batsmen barring openers got the chance to bat in the first game, while each of the bowlers shined in the 1st ODI. Zimbabwe is expected to go in with the same team that played the first game.

Zimbabwe’s top-4 batters were dismissed for single-digit scores in the power play. Skipper Regis Chakabva tried to steady the innings and scored 35 runs but wickets kept falling at the other end. Brad Evans (33 runs) and Richard Ngarava (34 runs) played vital cameos in the lower order to take their total from 110/8 to 189-all out in the match.

Zimbabwe bowlers failed to take even a single wicket in defending the below-par total. Victor Nyachi and Richard Ngarava bowled with good control in the power play while the spin duo of Sean Williams and Sikandar Raza too were pretty economical in the middle overs. Their bowling unit never troubled the opposition at any moment in the chase.
