India and Zimbabwe face off each other in the second ODI of the three-match series in Harare on Saturday, August 20. India won the first match by 10 wickets as they chased down 190 to win in 40-odd overs. It was a clinical performance from the visitors which they will look to build on in the second ODI.

Shikhar Dhawan (81) and Shubman Gill (82) put on a 192-run stand to take India home after Deepak Chahars opening spell set it up for the side. Skipper KL Rahul opted to not open the batting and the job was done successfully by Gill and Dhawan. The senior batter also spoke about batting with his younger partner after the game.

“I am enjoying batting with the youngster [Gill] and I feel like a youngster too. I enjoyed the consistency from West Indies. My rhythm with Gill has settled nicely. The way he bats and times the ball is lovely to watch. He has shown the consistency in converting fifties into bigger fifties,” said Dhawan after the team won the first ODI.

For Zimbabwe, it was a tough game after their series win against Bangladesh. The side was totally outplayed in all departments in the first ODI. Skipper Regis Chakabva spoke about the Indian bowlers creating pressure and taking the game away from them.

“The Indian bowlers bowled really well, put the pressure on us and we lost our way after the first 4-5 overs. It was good to see Richi (Ngarava) and Brad give us that partnership at the end. We needed to have one or two big partnerships, but it didn’t happen today” he said.
